April 15, 1931 Snetcher & Pittman, Capitol Hill Station , Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Gentlemen: Some time during the coming month, and I presume you have ere this had notice [sic] through the papers, Wiley Post will leave some city in the United States, (and the probabilities are, Oklahoma City), for a trip around the world. It has become necessary that I contribute a large amount of money, and I find that in addition to the amount that I agreed to pay, it is going to be necessary to have some additional money, and I thought by reason of our association you would not object to making a donation of $50.00, or such amount as you feel would be satisfactory to you, to assist Wiley in his undertaking. I assure you that this situation is entirely for his benefit, the writer having no interest whatever. If for any reason he does not leave the United States and attempt to fly across the ocean, I will refund the money that I am asking you to donate for his use and benefit.I make this statement for the reason that I would not want, and niether would he desire, to accept any money unless it was spent for the actual expressed incurred in addition to a great deal of other money on this trip that he now contemplates. I realize fully that money conditions are very hard, and I would like to suggest that if you would favor Mr. Post, as well as the writer, with this donation, that you allow me to pay Mr. Post, myself, and charge it to the account that the Westgate Oil Company owes you, this eliminating your sending a check for this amount. I assure you that I would greatly appreciate this authority to pay Mr. Post this money, charging your account for a like amount.
