[Top] Post and Gatty Streaking West for Chickasha ————— INDIANAPOLIS, July 9.—(AP)— Wiley Post and Harold Gatty, Around-the-world fliers, passed over Indianapolis en route to Chickasha, Okla., today. They circled the new Municipal Airport and then streaked into the West. —— Women in Crash COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 9—(AP) —Undeterred by an accident in landing here yesterday, Mrs. Wiley Post and Mrs. Harold Gatty, wives of the round-the-world fliers, hopped off for Chickasha, Okla., at 9 A.M. today. The woman escaped serious injury last night when their plane ground-looped and was damaged. A sister ship of the Winnie Mae, the round-the-world plane, took the women westward. It was rushed here last night from Indianapolis by Pilots Richard Knox and Dan McDuffey. As the women took off, their husbands were superintending the Refueling, and were warming up the Winnie Mae, which will make the Oklahoma hop without a stop. Post and Gatty, seeing their wives safely in the air, climbed into their own ship and took off for Post’s home town at 9:19 A.M. |
