[Top] The Oklahoma City speed ship being groomed for a try at the transcontinental record was clocked over A 101-mile course Friday in 24 minutes during a combination test and pleasure flight. Despite the fast speed, Wiley Post, pilot, reported he did not have the Throttle wide open. The run was Made from the Oklahoma City municipal airport to the airport dedication at Blackwell. The ship carried seven persons whose weight exceeded the weight of gasoline the ship will carry in its cross country run. Those in the plane were: A. C. Martin, A. F. Warner, Walter M. Harrison, W. C. Dance, Leslie Fain, W. E. Fletcher, and Post. |
